The Winner of OHKL 2022
JellyGo - a mobile application designed to track jellyfish movements
PAST HACKATHONSOHKL 2022

We’re proud to announce the winning team of Ocean Hackathon® Kuala Lumpur 2022 — a group of talented innovators from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), and Universiti Malaya (UM) — who developed an impactful mobile app called JellyGo.
JellyGo is a mobile application designed to track and predict jellyfish movements around Penang Island. This app provides valuable insights to help forecast jellyfish blooms, which can reduce risks and enhance safety for coastal communities and the tourism industry.
Led by Sim Yee Kwang, Senior Science Officer at USM’s Centre for Marine and Coastal Studies (CEMACS), the team brought together multidisciplinary expertise and creative problem-solving to address real-world marine challenges.
